The Story of The Aces
Shelley McLendon and Michael Fetters met in the early 2000s and they both thought the other one didn't like them, so the fact that they have been making sketch comedy together for 10 years is a miracle. They first worked together in 2010 on the staged adaptation of Road House (that Shelley co- wrote with pal Courtenay Hameister), then soon decided they should probably write a sketch comedy show together.
Their first show as The Aces debuted in 2012 at Theater Theatre (RIP) and they have written a brand new show once a year ever since. Their signature approach to sketch comedy has made many people happy and left some people confused.
You've seen them at The Chicago Sketchfest, The Portland Sketch Comedy Festival, and in the Mercury's Geniuses of Comedy show. You've also heard them on OPB's Think Out Loud. The last time The Aces performed together was in early 2020. It was a sketch comedy show called Ghost Town, where all the sketches took place in town that became a ghost town overnight due to one big, tragic event. Closing night was on March 7, 2020. Are The Aces also prophets? They might be.
Here's what some people say about them:
“laugh out loud funny!” The Willamette Week “God, I love The Aces” ThePortland Mercury “killingly funny. ” Portland Theatre Scene “very good at what they do.” The Oregonian
The Aces what to thank you for coming to the show tonight and for helping them celebrate 10 years of making sketch comedy!
