We are a monthly curated storytelling event for people that like to get vulnerable and take no shit. We are keen on connection, laughter, heartbreak, poignant moments, and community building.
We are already most of the way through our 7th season! Holy moly! At Telltale, you can expect about 8-10 performers telling you a story, through a mix of comedy, stories, music, essays, and more. Your evening will likely include honesty, curse words, enthusiasm, dark humor, connection....and sometimes something unexpected. So please come and remind yourself that the world is bigger than you think it is and that you're never alone. We are specifically focused on stories from people that can get vulnerable but also take no shit, fierce folks that know how to fight the good fight but also like naps and staying home most nights. (Psssssst: There will be a very good raffle.) This month's theme is "Wisdom Comes," and will feature all "seasoned queer" folks, aka not folks in their 20's, because we want to put the spotlight on some people we have a lot to learn from, and owe a lot to. This world is a strange place, and people don't always get the love they deserve--so for this night, let's cheer our heads off for an amazing line up that deserves everything. Questions about this event should be directed to www.telltalepdx.com |

HARD TO SAY

A comedy show about Trigeminal Neuralgia, aka ‘Suicide Disease’, chronic pain, brain surgery, pills, experiments, and when none of that works.
Kyle Ayers (Conan, Comedy Central) tries to make light of having Trigeminal Neuralgia, a rare nerve disorder known as Suicide Disease. Inherently already a funny topic, I know. Featured in the LA Times for both his comedy and the disease, Kyle performs his show about his experience living with the disease, getting misdiagnosed for years, getting brain surgery, the successful brain surgery eventually wearing off, and what life looks like when you may have tried everything and nothing works. God, I hope it's funnier than this description. “The hardest I’ve ever laughed at the darkest jokes I’ve heard.” - Adam Conover “One of the funniest people in LA for years now... an absolutely hysterical, gripping, and cathartic solo show.” - The Comedy Bureau Kyle Ayers is a comedian, writer, actor, and producer. You may have seen his standup on CONAN, Comedy Central, or heard his debut album “Happiness” which hit the top of the comedy charts when it debuted on Blonde Medicine Records. His podcast show Never Seen It, where comedians rewrite famous movies and TV shows they’ve never seen, is now a top iTunes charting podcast on Starburns Audio, featuring Dan Harmon, Henry Zebrowski, Bowen Yang, Sasheer Zamata, and more, and has been featured at festivals around the US and Canada. |

WERE YOU RAISED BY WOLVES?
|
"Were You Raised By Wolves?” cordially invites to an evening on the hilarious how-to's of any slippery social situation with hosts Emmy Award-winning journalist Nick Leighton and stand-up comedian Leah Bonnema (Late Show with Stephen Colbert & Don't Tell Comedy) who will discuss personal pet peeves, mortifying stories of public embarrassment, and true tales of grisly etiquette crimes. Wildest questions from listeners will also be answered! Possible topics include: people who don't say "thank you" when you hold the door for them (the worst), late people (just get there on time omg), people who walk 3X3 down the sidewalk (are you kidding me), apartment building laundry rooms (oh the anxiety), people who aren't ready to order when they step up to the deli counter (come on), and anyone who trims their nails in public (gross).

THE GLAMOROUS TRASH PARTY
|
Get ready for the ultimate mashup of podcast meets Coachella at the Glamorous Trash Party! It's not your average live show—it's a wild celebration where Chelsea discusses all things celebrity memoirs and shines a spotlight on her own memoir as well. With special guests, a themed dress code, and a photobooth to capture all the glam and trashy moments, it's an experience you won't want to miss!
About Chelsea: Chelsea Devantez is an Emmy Award–nominated writer, comedian, director, and host of the podcast Glamorous Trash. Before she entered into an overall television deal with 20th Century Studios, she was Jon Stewart’s head writer for Apple TV+’s The Problem with Jon Stewart. Her other television credits include Not Dead Yet, Girls5eva, and Bless This Mess, among others. She grew up in six different states all across the Southwest but will always consider New Mexico home. About Chelsea's Memoir "I Shouldn't Be Telling You This": There are things Chelsea Devantez probably shouldn’t be telling you, like how her family used lawn chairs as living room furniture, or how she used to date a magician. Then there are things Chelsea really shouldn’t be telling you: like the time her biggest family secret was publicly outed, or the domestic violence she survived as a teenager. In her hilarious and inspiring new collection of essays, Devantez tracks her life from a childhood in precarity to a burgeoning career in comedy to becoming the head writer for The Problem with Jon Stewart. |
